A well built, casual gaming machine

This notebook is far from perfect, but it's the best I've found for a 14-inch gaming capable laptop. I've used and returned an HP Envy 14 and a Lenovo Y460 in favor of this notebook.

Build: Excellent. The whole machine feels very solid. Very little flex anywhere.
Keyboard: Keys feel great and have just the right responsiveness. There is a teensy bit of flex with pressure, but it doesn't detract from the experience.

Screen: Mediocre/lousy-ish. It works for games and movies, just don't expect to be editing photos. Horizontal view angles are alright. Vertical view angles are not so alright.

Performance: Great. Just look at the specs.
Heat: Surprisingly good. Temperatures peak in the 70's even after a couple hours of games/movies

Sound: Okay. Sounds fine for notebook speakers. Not very loud. Not great for music. Sounds great with good external speakers.

Battery: Average. A little over 4 hours for web surfing. 2.5 hours for movies. (When running only on the intel HD gpu)

I do recommend this notebook. The only real negative is the screen, but I doubt most people will mind.
Note: This notebook DOES have optimus unlike the i7 n82jq

I absolutely Love this laptop....

I would like to say that first off Amazon has awesome customer service; there were some problems with my shipping and they handled the problem without any fuss or complaints. Now, on to the product. I was looking for a laptop that had decent battery life,while not playing games, but could still turn on the power when I wanted to play a game on the move or while just sitting on the couch with my wife. I have so far loaded Starcraft 2, WoW:Cataclysm, The Witcher Enhanced Edition and all three have ran with out any problems.


WoW: I run on everything on ultra with the shadows turned down one notch and I get 45-60 FPS in Stormwind/Orgimarr.
SC2: I run on High with out any problems in 4v4 battles with tons of units on the screen; You could probrably run Ultra if only playing 1v1 or Campaign.
The Witcher Enhanced Edition: This game is from 2007 so this laptop just completely demolishes this game and it looks oooh so good.

I have also watched netflix movies on it and have gotten through an entire movie with still plenty of battery to spare; although you could find a computer that would give a little more battery life with this power, I doubt you would find it at the price that Amazon offers this notebook.

My overall oppinion of this product is that I "LOVE IT!!!" The design I think is neat and different some might not care for the brown but I like it. The build quality is superb with little flex and the keyboard is great for typing and I have not had any problems while gaming. I do however use a "Steelseries" gaming mouse and a nice lap desk with a built in LED light, mouse pad, and Cup holder; which I just think makes this super laptop that much better. I would recommend this laptop to anyone whom enjoys gaming but doesn't want a giant 14+ inch laptop.

Another note to not forget, is that Asus offers a FREE 1 year accidental warranty on top of the 2 years, I believe it is, defective warranty. I was looking at the Alienware M11x but when I compared that to this machine the only thing the M11x has over this rig is the battery life and even then that is only if you get the slower i5 version which doesn't even compare to this rig in the benchmarks; not to mention the M11x is about 200 dollars more and only comes with a 1 year defective warranty; if you want the same warranty that Asus is offering go on and tack another 200 US dollars to that price tag.

better than i expected

i was comparing the Asus n43if and this one! since the n43if has Nvidia GT425, i heard GT 335 is better for playing 3D games so i choose the n82jv.i thought the design would be ugly, but in fact it looks fabulous! i5 is fast and GPU is great for gaming! quality and price are good for student who want a 14 inch gaming labtop.
