Overall a poor purchase

The price is right - little else is though. My biggest grip is that layout of the keyboard. No matter how much I attempt to "desensitize" the the mouse pad below the keyboard the slightest of movements will cause my cursor to jump to the other part of the screen. Additionally, sometimes the cursor will just jump to the far corner of the screen without me doing anything at all. And when I say "jump" I literally mean the cursor will be at point A at one moment and point B the next without me touching anything.

There are many other problems that I have with the computer but the the functionality of the keyboard stands out as being the most prominent. I suppose I can add that the speakers are also lousy but then again most laptops have poor sound systems.

Great looking laptop, light, and fast

This laptop is the best you can get for the price. Its a great value purchase. The laptop looks sturdy and cool, with only drawback being the Graphics card, but in my case, where gaming is not the purpose of the laptop, it is worth the price. The hard drive partitioning by Lenovo though isn't the best you could ask for. The C partition is bloated, with a 30 Gig D partition which is more like e recovery drive. Other than that, the laptop looks and works like a breeze.

Great Laptop! Exceeded my expectations!

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 laptop is a great laptop. I spend several months researching laptops and am very pleased with my decision. The design is great and being only 1" thick and light is impressive. The best part is that even being 1" thick, it is a powerful laptop. It's very comfortable to use and runs cool. Being a 16" laptop, I would have like the full keyboard with keypad, but that is a very small price to pay for such a great laptop. I run a lot of larger programs and it manages all of them smoothly. There is some junk software that comes with it, but there is also a lot of cool, useful stuff too. It only has 2 USB ports, but that's not a big deal unless it sits on a desk and then it's really easy to get a USB hub. I would call this a good portable big laptop. The screen quality/resolution is high quality and the sound is top notch. There are a few other comparable laptops out there with similar specs, but you can find some great deals on this Lenovo IdeaPad that makes it an even better buy.
